New Ragweed Allergy Prescription Available at Watkins Clinic
Tired of suffering through ragweed season year after year due to over-the-counter medications that just don’t provide the relief you need? Now, there is something else you can do to control your summer allergies! Watkins Allergy and Asthma Clinic is now offering Ragwitek, the first allergen extract approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat short ragweed pollen allergies.
According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), 75% of Americans who are allergic to pollen-producing plants are allergic to Ragweed. Common symptoms of ragweed induced allergies include running nose, repetitive sneezing, nasal congestion, nasal itching, and itchy or watery eyes. Previously, short ragweed pollen induced allergies could only be managed by avoiding the allergen, taking medications to suppress symptoms or allergy shots.
What is it? Treatment for pollen-induced allergic rhinitis (hay fever), with or without conjunctivitis (eye inflammation), among adults ages 18 to 65. The tablet contains an extract from short ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) pollen, which is most prevalent during the late summer and early fall months.
How does it work? Ragwitek is a once-daily tablet that is placed under the tongue and rapidly dissolves. The FDA states that the treatment should begin 12 weeks prior to the start of the ragweed pollen season and be continued throughout. The first dose is given at the doctor’s office and will be monitored for at least 30 minutes in case of any adverse reactions.
How can I get it? Sign up for your appointment now so you are prepared before ragweed season begins. Ragwitek provides allergy relief so you can finally take your summers back!
