Makeup Allergies
Beauty products can help you feel good about yourself. But they can also cause irritated skin or an allergic reaction. According to an FDA survey, up to 25 percent of people said they had a skin reaction to at least one product.
ALLERGY SYMPTOMS
There are two types of skin reactions to beauty products: irritant contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis.
Irritant Contact Dermatitis
Irritant contact dermatitis is the more common type and occurs when people touch something, called an irritant, that they are sensitive to.
Allergic Contact Dermatitis
Allergic contact dermatitis occurs when people touch something, called an allergen, that they are allergic to. People with allergies react to things like cosmetics, detergents, and latex that don’t affect most people.
